Thanksgiving Ideas

Go to my facebook called Entertaining For Eternity for turkey cookies & cupcake ideas
Check out my tweets on twitter called Entertain4Him.
BOTH contain ideas and web sites for mor ideas.

Have you invited any "stays" (folks with no where to spend Thanksgiving) to join your family celebration? You have no idea how much even your invitation could mean to some lonely person. We almost always include guests like these in our holidays. I'll never forget the one time we didn't and as our kids settled around the table they exclaimed, "What?! no guests?! How come?"

There's nothing more joyous than a room full of happy celebrating people no matter what the occasion!

Start thinking then inviting someone to share in your family's Thanksgiving. There's no better time to demonstrate God's love and provisions. Look around for singles or those too far away from their families. Internationals love learning about our holidays. My book Entertaining for Eternity has a whole chapter full of ideas for Thanksgiving. Order your copy on line at www.EntertainingForEternity.com

Read or tell the miraculous story of Squanto to your guests. Can you imagine how surprised the Pilgrims were when an Indian stepped out of the woods and spoke the Kings English?! Learn how God prepared this Indian especially for helping them.

Fall Festivities

Are you looking for an alternative to Halloween?

My friend Adrienne called me in July and offered to host a Fall Friends and Fellowship Coffee to share my new book Entertaining for Eternity with our friends in the Philadelphia area.

I was so excited that she cared enough and caught the vision of my book - using your home to share the love of Christ.

What a fun way to share a crisp fall morning - over hot coffee and pumpkin muffins!

being salt & light

Today's "Daily Bread" is spot on for entertaining and using your home.
When E. Stanley Jones well known missionary to India, had a chance to meet Gandhi, he asked, "How can Christianity make a stronger impact on your country?" Gandhi replied that 3 things would be required:
1. Christians must begin to live more like Jesus.
2. The Christian faith should be presented without any adulteration.
3. Christians should emphasize LOVE, which is at the heart of the Gospel.
If we would use our homes to do these with those we know who are outside the faith, we would have a mighty impact on our communities and in turn our nation that would be more powerful than any book or sermon. This is how we too coudl make a stronger impact on our county!
Prop open your front door and invite someone in for a cup of something and lend a listening ear and serve up some love and understanding and let us know what happens.

Labor Day

Plan a neighborhood Labor Day picnic in your yard. Have guests bring pot luck salad or dessert and you flip the burgers. Pray before you eat asking the Lord to bless our troops and our country and watch how that effects the conversations and let me know.

Book status

Entertaining for Eternity had it's debut at the CCC conf. in CO. The printer had air shipped only 60 copies due to weight and cost of shipping. I was shocked when it sold completely out by the next day! Reserve your copy by going to the web site www.EntertainingForEternity.com. The boat shipment is due to arrive mid August.

My Book

My book Entertaining for Eternity with Heavenly Hospitality is at the printer now in China. It should be available after Sept. 1st depending on the shipping by sea. Check back then. In the meantime you can pre-order your copy by emailing me at: NanMcCullough@gmail.com .

This book is 321 pages, full of color & lots of photos which will give you more ideas of how to use your home in easy ways for all sorts of occasions.

PATRIOTIC PICNICS

I use Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July or Labor Day to have a pre-evangelism picnic. Have a pot luck where friends bring salads or desserts and you provide the burgers & dogs. Just before everyone goes through the food line I have my husband say, "It's our custom in our home to say a blessing before we eat. Today I'd like to pause and pray not only for our food but also for our nation." Then he prays something appropriate to the holiday or recent news like for our troops in harms way etc. It's loads of fun to mingle and hear how the Lord takes this simple prayer and causes the guests to talk about spiritual things. Who knows what or where the Holy Spirit will take this.
DESSERT ON THE DECK
Try this easy way to do pre-evangelism. Kick off the summer with a dessert pot luck on your deck inviting both fully devoted Christians and non-believers to celebrate the start of the summer season. The conversations will flow naturally and what fun to hear non-believers asking questions of your Christian friends.
My neighbor started asking questions of one of my guests and now wants to meet with one of them to find out how to know Christ personally.
Keep the food simple and easy to pick up and eat off plates as they stand around talking. Everyone will enjoy the stimulating evening and be blessed by it.

St Paddie's Day Party

It won't be long before folks start wearing the "green". St. Patrick's Day is March 17th. What a great time to invite some friends in for some Irish Coffee and tell the history of St. Patrick. Check out the internet for info on how this man impacted the whole nation of Ireland with the good news about Jesus Christ and how He can change a lives and eventually a whole culture.

Feeling ambitious? Cook up some corned beef and cabbage. Pick up some Irish soda bread at a local bakery and have some friends in for dinner on Tues. March 17th for St. Patrick's day.
Why not have a "snowed in" coffee for your neighbors after a day of shoveling? Nothing like some hot chocolate or spiced tea and a chance to overcome "cabin fever" with those who can walk over.
